The Lunchbox of the Future

Inventions…some good, some bad, and some…fairly strange...
Meet: Lunch Communicator:

A two way communication between the “packer” and the “eater.”

The LunchCommunicator is a lunchbox that has an attached webcam to allow the lunchbox recipient see how the lunch was prepared (directly upon opening). The webcam also records the recipient eating the lunch, so when it is returned to the “packer,” they can see your reaction to the lunch…either good or bad.

Interesting idea, and could be a great way to enforce diets, and kids to eat their vegetables come lunch time.
What do you guys think? Here’s a video that explains this concept further.

Car-2-Go

A new type of transportation model is starting to develop into a heavy contender in the United States. Called Car2Go, the company revolves around the using of Smart Cars to travel around various cities. The only city in America where this is currently installed and running in is in Austin, Texas. The city currently has 200 cars that are available to rent “spontaneously or in advance.”

You essentially get in the car and drive, and a huge appealing factor is that you don’t have to drive the car back to the original starting point. There are multiple drop off points around the city where you can drop it off. The standard price is set at .35 cents per minute (plus tax), but that includes the cost of fuel, insurance, parking, maintenance, and mileage.

It is essentially a pay as you go car that becomes more economical the more you drive it; with rates up to a $12.99 per hour or $65.99 per day.

I see this as a huge innovation, and one that will start to become widespread with cities all across America. Although I don’t see it overcoming other areas of travel that require roads, such as trains or busses, I can definitely see car sales start to decrease, especially for those that live in the city.
Thoughts?

R.I.P. Zune

Just the other day I dropped my Zune mp3 player (which I’ve had for years) and the entire face of the screen cracked. Although still in perfect working condition with no internal damage done, I decided to start searching for another Zune mp3 player when I found some horrible news.

Microsoft is killing off its Zune media player. Although they still plan to sell their latest models of media players, there are currently no plans to unveil any new Zunes.

I could be a spokesperson for Zune, as I have been a fan of them for years. I know the trouble they have had with competing in the market (or should I say Apple’s market) of mp3 players, but the worst part is that they are constantly overlooked. The software made for the Zune has actually been implemented, and still exists in other Microsoft products such as Windows Phone 7, and on the Microsoft Xbox 360, so as least that part will still “live on.”

Not much can be said about this post regarding the future, although I do hope they seriously reconsider, because there are currently NO solid competitors to Apple’s iPod. SOMEBODY needs to get them a little scared.

Thanks for reading!
